Each year, the Automotive News Research & Data Center surveys dealership groups to determine the list of the top 150 groups headquartered in the U.S. The ranking is based on 2024 new-vehicle retail sales. Five dealership groups are new to the 2025 list including Bert Ogden Auto Group of McAllen, Texas, which debuted at No. 49; and Vaughan Automotive of Boerne, Texas, entering at No. 108. Three groups from the 2024 list did not want to be considered for this year’s ranking, while seven others from last year’s list did not respond to this year’s survey. Two groups that were on the 2024 list fell below this year’s top 150 ranking. Those groups are KDW Automotive of Glendale, Calif., No. 139 last year, and Baker Auto Group, formerly Betten Baker Auto Group, which also ranked No. 139 on the 2024 list. Seven auto retailers which were not on the 2024 list but have participated and been ranked in the past are back, including ZT Automotive, No. 132, and Starling Automotive Group, No. 114. Both groups made acquisitions in 2024.
